Again an Attack on Journalists at Coochbehar Agricultural University, 7 Hospitalized

Webdesk, TNI Coochbehar, 22nd April, 2017: Yesterday in yet another gruesome incident some students belonging from a student’s political wing attacked the journalists who went to cover a news at Coochbehar Agricultural University located at Pundibari of Coochbehar. On Thursday the Dean Prof. Tapan Kumar Haath was gheraoed for 26 hours at his chamber by the students protesting about the examination routine.
It is reported that the Dean was harassed by the student’s whole night that made Prof. Haath become sick. He was rushed to MJN Hospital Coochbehar at around 3:00 pm. Later in the next day when the journalists went to cover the incident at the campus, they were attacked by the students. At least 8 journalists were injured in the incident and their equipment damaged by the angry students. 
Among the injured there were Mr. Hirak Roy, Mr. Pran Pratim Paul, Mr. Shuvendu Bhattacharya, Mr. Ashok Dey, Mr. Shashikesh Roy, Mr. Bipul Das, and Mr. Debjyoti Kahali. This has created an uproar among the journalists throughout North Bengal. A FIR has also being lodged at the Coochbehar Police Station. A deputation was submitted by the Uttar Dinajpur Press Club to the Chief Minister.
